Oil Changes
First Off...
Hi! My name is Seah Greenhorn and I am an everyday consumer.
Though, aren't we all? you say.
Yes. But, our pockets or banks determine just how much we can consume ... or not. . . . Mine? . . . I am more in the 'or not' category. But, don't sigh. It does not overly sadden me. It makes me more imaginative. And as a writer, imagination is a must. Actually, ... Life calls for imagination.
However, businesses do not allow me to 'imagine' money to pay for services. (You may be thinking, "Of course they do! It's called 'credit'. ... Duh!" ... But, it is not thus, of which I speak, thank you.)
So, when I go for an oil-change, my budget would like to know exactly what I will pay. If you say, "$34.95" I do not expect "$51.00." Therefore, as a consumer, I want to give a 'shout-out' to those who deserve it.
Today, I cannot.
I wish I could tell you that my oil-change experience was wonderful. Then I would use my personal business to take their pictures and proclaim my happiness for all to follow them. But, on-the-other-hand, I do not wish to slam someone's business, because there are many variables to running services efficiently. Maybe they just need a bit more training or information, etc.
So my advice to those offering oil change services, so that potential return customers, do not walk away without telling you, but others of their dissatisfaction, is this:
Please provide reasons for discrepancies in quoted prices and what the customer is actually being charged without them asking. For example, an asterisk explaining additional fees. This is preferable to a statement saying ... "starting at," because it's the 'end price' that interests us.
